Scoil Pól - Transition Years 2013/2014 present "The Molooneys" by Michael Dennehy

 

Well done to our Transition Years on the brilliant production of 'The Molonneys'. We had great crowds showing up to support the TYs on both nights. We'd like to thank everyone for their support and many thanks to all who supplied spot prizes. Your generosity is appreicated.

This is a two act play by Michael Dennehy.

This play is about a factory worker by the name of Michael Joseph Molooney, his wife Brigid Molooney is a bit of a social climber, and their daughter Aideen Molooney is a care free lady of about thirty years.

Maggie mother to Brigid, is a seemingly senile old lady, who is very deceptive and cunning in her old age. Her husband Richard, has become more agile and finds fun 'eventually' with wife Maggie.

Artie Hanrahan, A long standing family friend of the Molooneys very keen to marry Aideen, even if he has to wait 'forever' and is banished from the house by Brigid.

Angela Battenburgen, An eccentric foreign lively, fun loving district nurse who gets Richard and Maggie 'going' with her aerobic excercises.

Doctor Henry Osborne, a British born doctor who arrives to practice in Kilfinane and takes a shine to Aideen. Mr Nevin is a man who comes at midnight to deliver the presidents cheque to Richard on his 100th birthday.

Guard Moore, A rather outstanding buffoon who makes fun of Michael Joseph. Guarda Flaherty, partner of Guarda Moore is investigating some missing money. Also Uncle Toby shows up to add controversy to the mix

This play surrounds a box of money in the Molooney Household. Brigid Molooney wants to use this money to purchase the house next door and Michael Joe wants to use it to bet on the horses.
When the box goes missing, there are hilarious consequences for all in the Molooney Household and futher a field.
