2015 European Tour
On the 22nd of October, 2015, a group of 31 5th Year and TY students travelled to Madrid, Spain, accompanied by 5 members of staff. The group travelled from Dublin Airport in the early European Trip Madridhours of the morning. Once the tours had landed in Madrid and dropped their luggage at the hotel, they were treated to a panoramic guided bus tour of the city. The tour were showed many of the sights of Madrid, and there are numerous attractions within the city, unfortunately the tour had time constraints. The group dined in a restaurant in the prime of the city later that evening. As the group was exhausted, they were happy to retire to their bed for the night.

The following morning, the tour were admitted entrance to the Prado Museum. This is one of the world's most important art galleries. It exhibits paintings by Goya, El Greco, Ribera and Botticelli to name but a few. In the afternoon, the group visited the Royal Palace. The group were in awe at the structure of the luxurious palace, and this was definitely one of the highlights of the tour. Later, the soccer fanatics in the tour were in their element, as the group paid a visit to the Bernabeau Stadium. The tour of the stadium included panoramic views if the stadium, a visit to the Presidential Suite, changing rooms and the trophy room. The group later had dinner, and enjoyed the evening concluding with a round of bowling. Congratulations to Pádraig Weeks on achieving the highest score of students (and staff!) on the night.

Saturday was spent at the adrenaline - filling Warner Brothers Theme Park. The site had numerous roller-coasters and water rides, and there was something for everyone's taste. In the evening, the group stocked up on souvenirs for family and friends at home, and gift(s) for oneself in the city centre!
On Sunday, the final day of the trip, the tour was divided into 2 groups of 18, with one visiting the Reina Sofia Museum, and the other visting Parque El Retiro, the Phoenix Park of Madrid. Both groups were singing their praises of both attractions. The tour later collected their luggage and departed for home.
All of the students had a splendid time on the European tour, and the combination of new places, good weather and spending time with your friends will always reap good results. Thanks to Ms Higgins, Mrs Lowe, Miss Roche and Mr Somers for accompanying us to Spain. A special mention of gratitude is directed towards Mr O' Donnell, the co-ordinator of the tour. His year-long preparation for the tour was reflected with the enjoyment and lasting memories had by all.
