BiologyTrip5Scoil Pól Biology Trip 2015

On Friday 8th May 5th Year Biology students travelled to Dunmore Woods Nature Reserve in the Burren National Park with Mrs.Gardiner and Miss.Duggan to complete a field trip as part of the Biology Leaving Certificate Syllabus. They were taken into the woods and had to complete exercises relating to plant nature and animal nature. Although the rain did not cease for the day it was an enjoyable day for all as a year group.

Munster Athletics 2015

On Thursday 7th May a group of students travelled to the University of Limerick for the Munster Atheltics. Schools from all over the province took part including our very own Scoil Pól. The group consisted of Darragh Sheehy, Peter McMahon, Jimmy Quilty, Ciaráin Sheehan and Alex Ailenei accompanied by Miss. Duggan.

Scoil Pól welcomes Neven Maguire to the Charleville Park Hotel Scoil Pol welcome Neven MaGuire

On Thursday last, the 7th May, Principal Mike O Hara welcomed one of Irelands best known chef’s, Neven Maguire, to the Charleville Park Hotel. The event was a fundraising night for the Secondary School in Kilfinane where all funds raised will be used to offset the annual costs associated with travel and engagement in extracurricular activities in the school.
A large crowd of approximately three hundred and fifty people gathered on the night and were welcomed by the Parents Association and principal and availed of a complementary glass of wine at reception. A number of artisan food and industry stalls were available to the audience for browsing at, where a variety of food, beverages, condiments and specialities such as cheese, apple juices and oils could be tasted and/or purchased. Between 7 and 8pm Neven himself visited these stalls to sample and admire these artisan products and availed of these samples to include in his menu on the night. Many availed of this opportunity to have their photograph taken with the famous chef himself.

BEO 2015! Postaer Beo

BEO invites schools in Ireland to organize a live music event in their area. While BEO is basically about teenagers organizing gigs for themselves BEO also asks participants to use the event to promote “cúpla focal” gaeilge while also having a social conscience.

Scoil Pól were delighted to be at the final in Letterkenny! Congratulations to all the TY class of 2015.

TY receive certificates for Build a Bank Programme BuildaBank

On the 6th May 2015, A group of Transition Year's, accompanied by Mr O' Hara, collected their Certificates of Merit, at a Ceremony in the Kilmallock Branch of AIB, for their participation in the Build-A-Bank programme.

Scoil Pól students at the Dáil
On Wednesday 22nd April, Transition Year students Peter Mc Mahon and Jack Fogarty travelled to Dáil Eireann as part of the Young Social Innovators ‘Speak Out Tour’.
The ‘Speak Out Tour’ is an opportunity for students to put topical questions to a panel of TD’s and Senators and to hear their intentions for the youth of Ireland in the years to come. The topics for discussion were:

• Poverty, Equality and Inclusion in Ireland and the world Dail Eireann
• Local Communities
• Technology/Digital
• Health and Well being
• Education and Employment
