Scóil Polar Bear Bank welcomed Colm Cooper

Members of Scoil Pólar Bear Bank were delighted that Colm Cooper, All Star football, was able to visit Scoil Pól Kilfinane where the bank is set up. Colm gave a very interesting talk to many of our customers about fitness, sport and nutrition. We then had a photo session with him. It was a very successful day eventhough many bank members were unable to attend due to work experience. Fortunately Áine Crowley, TY student, was able to attend and introduced Colm Cooper. After the talk the customers had a "question and answer" session with Colm. The customers enjoyed the talk and found it very beneficial. Scóil Polar Bears Bank was set up through the AIB Build a Bank Challenge and has been very proud of its success so far.

Sr. Patricia Cup
Junior Camogie Munster Final
Colaiste Phobal Ros Cre  vs  Scoil Pol, Kilfinane
Final Score 1-0 – 0--0

On a wet and windy Sunday afternoon our Junior Camogie team took part in their first of two Munster finals over the next couple of weeks. Unfortunately the result went the wrong way today but a lot can be taken from this match. The conditions on the day was where the game was won and lost with both teams giving it their all. The match started off in frantic fashion with Rachel Carroll and Aoife O’Sullivan trying to stamp their authority on the game early on. All the early pressure was with Scoil Pol and this culminated in a flowing attack down the right through half forward  Katie O’Connor whose pace and skill allowed her to beat the defence and play the sliotar across the box. Rachel Condon was at the end of that attack and through luck on Roscrea’s part somehow the sliotar stayed out of the goals.

Scoil Pol BadmintonSenior Badminton League

Our Senior Badminton league came to a close just before Christmas and like previous years the staff got as enthusiastic as the students!! There was a total of 25 pairs and over 50 group matches before two pairs were left! Sean Lyons and Kevin OFarrell sailed through the first Semi Final to play Mr Lowe and Ms Higgins in a severely contested final. A bit of experience paid off although and the teachers hung on to win the final set in a very sporting match to conclude a fantastic tournament. Well done to all participants.
